We are pleased to announce the 27th annual Financial Reporting and Business Communication (FRBC) conference organised by the University of Bristol and the BAFA FARSIG. FRBC is one of the premier conferences of its kind worldwide and it attracts an international audience.
\nThe conference comprises sessions with full papers with discussants, developmental paper sessions and a doctoral stream.
\nThe conference addresses key areas of accounting and financial reporting, which are of interest to accounting academics and practitioners. These include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n

\uf0b7 The role and limitations of the corporate annual report
\n\uf0b7 The effectiveness of financial reporting standards
\n\uf0b7 Accounting measurement and disclosure
\n\uf0b7 Sustainability, integrated and environmental reporting
\n\uf0b7 The composition and format of corporate reports and the role of the visual
\n\uf0b7 Corporate reporting and accountability in the public sector
\n\uf0b7 The effectiveness of narrative and textual information in corporate reporting
\n\uf0b7 The role of financial reporting and governance mechanisms in capital markets
\n\uf0b7 Historical perspectives on financial accounting and reporting<\/p>\n

KEYNOTE SPEAKER:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Richard Barker – Professor of Accounting, University of Oxford,
\nInternational Sustainability Standards Board.<\/p>\n

Session in honour of Professor Mike Jones<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 2024 conference will include a session in honour of Professor Mike Jones, who founded the FRBC conference in 1996 and organized it until 2021. The session will celebrate Mike\u2019s academic legacy, recognising his key contributions to the accounting literature, and discussing the possible future directions in these areas.<\/p>\n

Submissions<\/strong>
\nPapers, full or developmental (up to 7,000 words), are invited on the above-mentioned topics or other aspects of financial reporting and business communication. Papers may take empirical, theoretical and\/or conceptual approaches, including case studies or experiments.
\nPapers (please mark as FULL or DEVELOPMENTAL paper) should be submitted by email to frbc-conference2024@bristol.ac.uk. The submission deadline is 30th April 2024.<\/p>\n

For doctoral students wishing to present in the doctoral stream, a structured abstract of up to 1,000 words should be submitted. A Sue Hrasky Scholarship is available for the 2024 conference to doctoral students in the doctoral stream. This comprises a doctoral fee waiver, receipted travel within the UK to the conference, subsistence and accommodation costs related to the conference. All submissions by doctoral students will be considered for the scholarship.<\/p>\n

The award of the scholarship will be communicated via email. Abstracts (please mark as DOCTORAL) should be submitted by emailing frbc-conference2024@bristol.ac.uk<\/a>. The submission deadline is 30th April 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
