The Regional International Accounting Research Forum invites high-quality country- or region-specific accounting research for presentation and potential publication in the Journal of International Accounting Research (JIAR). The forum is part of a JIAR initiative aimed at accelerating research that provides deep, contextual insights into individual countries or regions, especially those underrepresented in international accounting literature. This research forum focuses on Spain and the broader European countries.<\/p>\n

Submission Topics<\/strong>
\nWe encourage research addressing, but not limited to:
\n\u2022 Financial and managerial accounting practices in Spain
\n\u2022 Auditing, assurance, and corporate governance in Spain
\n\u2022 Taxation, regulation, and institutional factors affecting accounting outcomes
\n\u2022 ESG reporting, sustainability, and non-financial disclosues
\n\u2022 The impact of global standards (e.g., IFRS, IAASB) on local practices
\n\u2022 Comparative cross-country analyses highlighting Spain or European countries<\/p>\n

We welcome submissions employing a wide range of research methodologies, including theoretical, empirical, case-based, survey, and interview approaches. Replication studies pertaining to Spain and European countries will also be considered, provided they demonstrate methodological rigor and contribute novel insights to the field of international accounting research.<\/p>\n

Submission Guidelines<\/strong>
\nDeadline: September 15th, 2026
\nSubmission Format: Well-developed full working papers in WORD or PDF formats
\nReview Process: All submissions will undergo a peer review
\nLanguage: Submissions must be in English
\nInitial Submission: Submit your paper to: RIARF@uib.es<\/a>
\nJournal Submission: All, or a selected subset, of the papers presented at the conference will be invited for formal submission to JIAR through Editorial Manager after addressing the feedback from the conference.<\/p>\n

Please note that American Accounting Association (AAA) and its International Accounting Section (IAS) members will receive a discount on journal submission fees. We highly encourage you to join the AAA membership and IAS sectional membership through Membership before submitting to JIAR.<\/p>\n

The final acceptance of papers to JIAR depends on the regular journal review process. However, papers selected at this regional forum will have the opportunity to receive first-hand comments from Editors during the forum, which increases their chances of publication.<\/p>\n
