The organisers keep the AAEE name in recognition of the conference&#8217;s history while questioning the term \u201cemerging economies\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Indicative themes<\/strong> (submissions on other topics related to the conference theme are welcome):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Accounting, reporting and assurance:<\/strong> AI and data analytics, financial reporting, sustainability and ESG reporting, integrated reporting, auditing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Political economy, ecology and development:<\/strong> development and the SDGs, climate and nature accounting, extractivism, sovereign debt, aid and humanitarian finance.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Governance, control and public accountability:<\/strong> corporate governance, corruption and transparency, management control, digitalisation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Inequality, injustice and precarity:<\/strong> poverty and labour, human rights, gender, race and caste, migration, nationalism, state violence and surveillance, historical perspectives on empire.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Special panel:<\/strong> accounting and accountability in conflict, violence, war and occupation. Work by scholars writing from within the settings they study is especially welcome.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Emerging Scholars Colloquium (28 June 2027):<\/strong> open to doctoral researchers and early-career scholars, who present work in progress to a small group and receive extended written and oral feedback from experienced faculty. Sessions also cover publishing, reviewing and building a research programme. Places are limited and allocated on the basis of the submitted paper. Participants may also present a separate paper at the main conference.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Submission:<\/strong> full papers (no separate abstract stage) for both the main conference and the colloquium must be submitted via the Microsoft CMT portal by <strong>1 March 2027<\/strong>. Notification of acceptance: 31 March 2027. Selected papers will be considered for conference-linked special issues; the journals will be announced in the full call for papers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Registration:<\/strong> full rate \u00a3275; reduced rate \u00a3150 (retired, unemployed or doctoral students); Emerging Scholars Colloquium \u00a360.
