The School of Business and Management (SBM) seeks to recruit an excellent researcher and teacher to a lectureship in accounting. Early career researchers with strong potential for publication are invited to apply for the Lecturer role and experienced candidates with a very strong publications record are invited to apply for the Senior Lecturer role.  All applicants should have the ability to teach and supervise effectively across our main undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.                                                                                                        <\/p>\n

QMUL was placed 9th in the UK among multi-faculty institutions in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework. It is the fourth largest college in the University of London and is growing rapidly. QMUL is a highly internationalised university, but with deep roots and continuing engagement with East London communities.<\/p>\n

School of Business and Management<\/span><\/p>\n

The School of Business and Management is one of the eight schools in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The School has been undergoing a period of rapid growth, doubling our number of academic staff over the last five years. We presently have 85 academic staff. We have over 1200 undergraduate business studies students plus approximately 600 students taking business in combination with other degree subjects within QMUL. At the post-graduate level we have approximately 600 MSc students and a well-established doctoral programme of around 70 PhD students.<\/p>\n

SBM’s core purpose is to promote social justice, sustainability and good governance in the management of private, public and voluntary organisations through our research and education. We are a distinctive School that takes a humanities and social science led approach to our scholarship, and are now the largest school within QMUL’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), with its traditional strengths as a site of critical thinking in the humanities, law, history, geography and politics.<\/p>\n

The Candidate<\/span><\/p>\n

Candidates will be expected to have a completed doctorate (or have a doctorate under examination by June 2020) in a relevant field. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the capacity to research and publish at an internationally excellent level, with the potential for world-leading work, in the broad area of accounting. Applicants will be expected to show how their research interests complement those within the School and how they can contribute to the development of accounting programmes within the accounting teaching group. At Senior Lecturer level, applicants should also have the ability to deliver teaching and assessment of undergraduate and postgraduate leave as well as a record of mentoring and developing staff including successful supervision of PhD students to completion.  We will consider applications from any field of accounting but are particularly interested in candidates able to teach in the areas of corporate reporting or management accounting. The School is strongly committed to the development of all its staff and we will ensure that the successful candidate has the opportunity to develop their teaching, research and administrative skills.<\/p>\n

The salary will be in the range £42,433 – £52,833 per annum for Lecturer level and £55,840 – £62,415 per annum for Senior Lecturer level inclusive of London Allowance and benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free travel season ticket loan.<\/p>\n
