\n\tANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE OPENING OF AN INTERNATIONAL SELECTION TENDER PROCEDURE FOR DOCTORATE HIRING<\/div>\n
\n\tPURSUANT TO DECREE-LAW NO. 57\/ 2016 OF 29 AUGUST<\/div>\n
\n\t <\/div>\n

\n\t <\/div>\n
\n\t1. Framework<\/strong><\/div>\n
\n\tThe Rector of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Prof. Dr. Isabel Capeloa Gil Hereby announces an international selection tender for one vacancy of doctorate auxiliary researcher to perform duties of scientific research, on an exclusivity basis, in the scientific field of Service Management. The research activities are to be carried out at CEGE – Research Centre in Management and Economics, integrated in the Faculty of Economics and Management \/ Católica Porto Business School of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, in Oporto, within the framework of the 2020-2023 Financing Program Contract for R&D Units signed between the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. (FCT, IP) and the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP). This contract is financed by national funds through the FCT – Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. (FCT, IP).<\/div>\n
\n\t <\/div>\n
\n\tThe activities will be carried out within the Service Management and Performance (SMP) group of the CEGE. This group conducts research with the goal of significantly advancing theoretical and applied knowledge, combining methodological rigor with managerial relevance. Relevant subjects include the management of digitally enabled services, servitization of manufacturing, supply chain\/operations management, service networks, among others. These topics are primarily researched based on Operations Management and Management Science approaches, but may also be analysed drawing on other disciplines in Management, such as Marketing and Strategy. The group emphasizes empirical methods and has conducted research in retail, telecommunications, healthcare, transportation, utilities, financial services, and manufacturing firms with relevant service activities, among other sectors.<\/div>\n
\n\t <\/div>\n
\n\tThe selected researcher is expected to be involved in a number of activities related to research projects in the SMP area, including:<\/div>\n
\n\t– Development and coordination of new projects in the SMP area.<\/div>\n
\n\t– Integration into existing projects in the SMP area.<\/div>\n
\n\t– Analysis of case studies and statistical data analysis on Service activities (in Portugal and abroad).<\/div>\n
\n\t– Writing of scientific articles in collaboration with researchers from the CEGE.<\/div>\n
\n\t– Organization of conferences and scientific events, as well as knowledge dissemination and transfer activities.<\/div>\n
\n\t– Supervision of master students in the area of SMP.<\/div>\n
\n\t <\/div>\n
\n\t2. Applicable Legislation<\/strong><\/div>\n
\n\tDecree-Law no. 57\/2016 of 29 August, amended by Law no. 57\/2017 of 19 July, which approved the doctorate hiring regime destined to stimulate scientific and technological employment for all knowledge areas (RJEC), without prejudice to the specific regulations applicable to the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.<\/div>\n
\n\t <\/div>\n
\n
\n\t\t3. Workplace<\/strong><\/div>\n
\n\t\tThe workplace is located at the Oporto facilities of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.<\/div>\n
\n\t\t <\/div>\n
\n\t\t4. Remuneration.<\/strong><\/div>\n
\n\t\tGross monthly remuneration to be paid is 3.191, 82€ euros, plus meal, vacation, and Christmas allowances.<\/div>\n
\n\t\t <\/div>\n
\n\t\t5. Admission requirements<\/strong><\/div>\n
\n\t\tAny national, foreign, and stateless candidates who fulfil the following requirements may submit their applications: i) hold a doctoral degree in Operations Management, Management Science, Industrial Engineering, Management, or related scientific fields; ii) have a scientific and professional curriculum whose profile is suited for the activities to be performed; and iii) have a good command of English. In the event the doctoral degree was awarded by a foreign higher education institution, said degree must comply with the provisions of Portuguese law on the recognition of foreign degrees. For those purposes, the requirements described in point no. 11 of this notice must be considered.<\/div>\n
\n\t\t <\/div>\n
\n\t\t6. Selection Process<\/strong><\/div>\n
\n\t\tPursuant to article 5 of RJEC, selection is to be made based on the candidates’ scientific and curricular career evaluation.<\/div>\n
\n\t\t <\/div>\n
\n\t\t7. Evaluation criteria<\/strong><\/div>\n
\n\t\tAssessment criteria: scientific production and its relevance, participation in scientific projects and conferences, student supervision, scientific dissemination actions, transfer of knowledge, other relevant activities and experiences. The evaluation process may include an interview with the candidates.<\/div>\n
\n\t\t <\/div>\n
\n\t\tThe candidates’ final classification shall be presented on a scale of 0 to 20. The value is calculated by weighing in each factor as follows, always taking into account that for each item only the activity relevant to the scientific field (content and methods) of the present tender will be considered:<\/div>\n
\n\t\t1. Scientific and curricular background (SP)<\/div>\n
\n\t\ta) Scientific and technological production, considering its connection to the SMP scientific area and its relevance to the envisaged research activities: 75%;<\/div>\n
\n\t\tb) Applied or practice-based research activities: 20%;<\/div>\n
\n\t\tc) Extension and dissemination activities: 5%;<\/div>\n
\n\t\td) Interview (I).<\/div>\n
\n\t\t <\/div>\n
\n\t\tAll candidates whose evaluation in the SP stage is higher than or equal to 14 (out of 20) will follow to the I – interview stage (in person or remotely). They will be asked to make a 10-minute presentation (including a PP), in which they demonstrate the contributions to this parameter.<\/div>\n
\n\t\t <\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n\tApplicants who are interviewed will be assigned a new classification in addition to the initial one that will be based on the following formula:<\/div>\n
\n\tFinal classification = 90% SP+ 10% I<\/strong><\/div>\n
\n\tThe position can only be awarded to candidates who achieve a final grade higher than or equal to 16 (out of 20).<\/div>\n
\n\t <\/div>\n
\n\t8. Tender Selection Panel<\/strong><\/div>\n
\n\tPursuant to article 13 of RJEC, the tender selection panel shall be formed by:<\/div>\n
\n\tPresident of the Jury: Prof. Dr. Maria da Conceição Andrade Silva;<\/div>\n
\n\tOther members: Prof. Dr. Jorge Julião; Prof. Dr. Rui Soucasaux Sousa<\/div>\n
\n\t <\/div>\n
\n\t9. Deliberation<\/strong><\/div>\n
\n\tThe panel shall deliberate by means of a roll-call vote under the adopted and disclosed selection criteria, with no abstentions allowed. Minutes of panel meetings shall be drafted and shall include a summary of all occurrences of said meeting, as well as of all votes cast by the members and respective reasoning. After application of the selection criteria, the panel shall prepare a sorted list of approved candidates and respective classification. The panel’s final decision shall be approved by the Rector, who shall also approve the hiring of the selected candidate. The ranked list of approved candidates will be posted at the Oporto facilities of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, located at Rua Diogo Botelho, 1327, 4169-005 Porto, and will be announced on the website http:\/\/www.catolicabs.porto.ucp.pt\/pt\/cege-estudos-projetos. Candidates will be notified by email once this list is made available.<\/div>\n
\n\t <\/div>\n
\n\t10. Preliminary Hearing and Final Decision Deadline<\/strong><\/div>\n
\n\tAfter being notified, all candidates have 10 working days to respond. The panel´s final decisions are pronounced within the next 5 working days, after the 10 work-day response period.<\/div>\n
\n\t <\/div>\n
\n\t11. Application formalization<\/strong><\/div>\n

\n\t\tIf the Doctoral Degree has been awarded by a non-Portuguese higher education institution it must comply with the provisions of the Portuguese legislation on the recognition of foreign degrees, regulated by Decree-Law no. 66\/2018 of August 16th. The signature of the contract is conditional on the presentation of the formal document.<\/div>\n

\n\t\t12. Application deadline<\/strong><\/div>\n
\n\t\tCandidates may submit their applications in the terms mentioned in the previous point, from 09-11-2020 until 09-30-2020 (5 pm Lisbon time).<\/div>\n
\n\t\tCandidates who do not comply with the application’s prerequisites or who fail to prove the eligibility requirements imposed by this tender shall be excluded. In case of doubt, the panel is entitled to request that candidates present further documentation supporting their statements. Failure to submit clarifications, information or documents that are requested, within 5 working days, determines the dismissal of the application.<\/div>\n
\n\t\tFalse statements provided by the candidates are punishable by law.<\/div>\n
\n\t\t <\/div>\n
\n\t\t13. Privacy Policy<\/strong><\/div>\n
\n\t\tUniversidade Católica Portuguesa is the controller responsible for the processing of Personal Data in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016\/679 – General Regulation on Data Protection.<\/div>\n
\n\t\tThe personal data submitted within the scope of this tender procedure is processed within the framework of said tender procedure only, and will be treated by Universidade Católica Portuguesa with the purpose of verifying the fulfillment, by the candidates, of the assumptions established in the applicable legislation for their contracting. Opposition to the processing of data by the candidates will make it impossible to accept the application and, therefore, to analyze and evaluate it.<\/div>\n

\n\t\t15. Final remarks:<\/strong><\/div>\n
\n\t\tThis tender is exclusively destined to fill this specific vacancy and can be terminated at any time until approval of final candidate list, expiring with the respective occupation of said vacancy.<\/div>\n
\n\t\tThis invitation to tender and the contract concluded as a result of it will only take effect if FCT's financing conditions are fulfilled.<\/div>\n
\n\t\tThis tender procedure can be canceled when it is vacant; when any case of force majeure occurs; or when other reasons of a budgetary nature, occurring after the opening of the competition, determine it.<\/div>\n
\n\t\tThe selected candidate will be hired by Universidade Católica Portuguesa as an auxiliary researcher under an uncertain term contract (contrato a termo incerto), predicted to start on 11-01-2020 with the estimate duration of 24 months, and which will never, under any circumstances, exceed the maximum period of 48 months, as a result of the legal imposition of Article 148 N. 5 of the Portuguese Labour Code enacted by Law No. 93\/2019 of September 4th.<\/div>\n
