The\u00a0Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4\u00a0University School of Business and Economics<\/a>\u202f(JSBE) is seeking to recruit a candidate for the position of<\/p>\n

ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (Tenure Track) in\u00a0Accounting<\/strong>,<\/p>\n

starting\u00a0on 1 March 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter for a fixed term of 3-5 years.\u00a0The position of an assistant professor is for a fixed term of three to five years, and the position of an associate professor is for a fixed term of five years (according to the\u00a0tenure track model<\/a>). At the conclusion of each fixed-term assignment, there will be an evaluation procedure to assess the employee’s qualifications for promotion to the next level (associate\/full professor).<\/p>\n

The position will strengthen\u00a0JSBE expertise in producing, analyzing and utilizing business information. Accounting covers financial planning, risk management, cost accounting and management control, enterprise resource planning information systems, and especially the internal and external reporting and audit of financial information. A specialty in accounting field is the existence of professional career paths of our graduates and the demands needed in them, e.g., in auditing.<\/p>\n

Tasks and qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n

The main responsibilities of the Assistant or Associate Professor include conducting international high-quality accounting research, teaching, supervision and development tasks particularly in financial accounting and auditing. The work profile also includes administrative obligations and applying for external funding.\u00a0A candidate with a research profile linked to the JSBE focus areas is preferred (sustainable business and economy, digital business and economy, and policy-relevant economics and competitiveness of economy).Demonstrated research expertise relevant to accounting and auditing as well as versatility in research methods are seen as special merits.<\/p>\n

The teaching responsibilities of an assistant\/associate professor include lectures and other courses ranging from basic courses to postgraduate level. The tasks include advising students and supervising theses at the bachelor, master, and postgraduate levels. Additionally, the assistant\/associate professor is involved in the societal interaction as an expert. The assistant\/associate professor participates in managerial duties and administrative tasks, continuous development of education, acquisition of research funding, and demanding specialist tasks.<\/p>\n

The qualification required for the position is a doctoral degree. We expect strong evidence in conducting and publishing scientific research, especially related to accounting.\u00a0 To be successful in the position, the candidate is expected to have an excellent track record of independent and innovative research. We further expect strong evidence of\u00a0teaching and supervision of theses, procuring research funding and of international networking. Knowledge of the Finnish regulation and legal context is considered beneficial.<\/p>\n
