We are now inviting applications for an\u00a0Assistant Professor<\/strong>\u00a0position (tenure track) in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and Sustainable Finance.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The position will be filled as a fixed-term\u00a0Assistant Professor\u00a0<\/em>position within the Tenure track system. However, a person fulfilling all qualification requirements and demonstrating particular merits may be appointed to the position of Associate Professor.<\/p>\n

Job description and requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

The field of the position is\u00a0Finance<\/em>\u00a0or\u00a0Accounting<\/em>. The research profile of the position is linked either to\u00a0Finance and Financial Accounting<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0Auditing and Control in Accounting<\/a>\u00a0research group. The task of the selected person is to further strengthen the School’s research activities in its focus areas, especially in relation to responsibility and sustainability.<\/p>\n

The position is located in the\u00a0School of Accounting and Finance\u00a0<\/a>at the University of Vaasa. The position is located in Vaasa. It is anticipated that the profile of the successful applicant should be broadly aligned with one or more of the key strategic themes of the University of Vaasa:\u00a0sustainable business, energy and society<\/em>\u00a0and with one or more of the University’s strategic focus areas of: energy transition and technology, business management, and governance and society. In line with the strategy of the University of Vaasa, the position holder can also take part in the actions of several multidisciplinary research platforms of the University. The successful applicant can be based in the discipline of Finance, Accounting, or both.<\/p>\n

The School of Accounting and Finance is a prolific unit renowned for its high-quality research and teaching. The School\u2019s main focus areas of research are (1) Financial Markets, Instruments, and Institutions, (2) Financial Analysis of Firm policies and Outcomes, (3) Governance and Compliance, (4) Responsibility and Sustainability, and (5) Risk Measurement and Management. Over recent years, the School\u2019s faculty members have published numerous articles in highly-regarded finance, accounting, and business journals. One of the key strengths of the School, and the wider university, is its interdisciplinary as well as multidisciplinary research.<\/p>\n

The tenure track position is research-oriented, but also include teaching, thesis supervision, applying for external research funding, and university administrative tasks. The annual working time is 1612 hours based on the general collective agreement for Finnish universities and tasks are agreed in more detail in the Annual Work Plan.<\/p>\n

Salary and benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n

The salary is based on both the job requirement and the employee\u2019s personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System (YPJ). \u00a0The annual starting salary (incl. holiday contributions) of an Assistant Professor is approximately \u20ac51,500 – \u20ac 55,700.<\/p>\n

Each University of Vaasa employee automatically belongs to a pension scheme and the majority part of the pension contributions is paid by the employer.\u00a0We also have a versatile reward system in use. If you are moving to Finland from abroad, relocation services are available.<\/p>\n
