Under the leadership of Mark Clatworthy, Joachim Gassen and Giovanna Michelon, the EAA VARS series was launched last May. This initiative started following the widespread cancellation of seminars because of the COVID-19 situation, with the aim of allowing colleagues to disseminate their research findings to a large and informed audience, while simultaneously enabling scholars from a range of institutions to engage with current research projects. <\/span>
\nThe previous edition was a success and the EAA has decided to make the VARS a regular event for the EAA community. The EAA VARS for 2020-21 is now a monthly event, organised and coordinated by the EAA Virtual Activities Task Force.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>EAA Virtual Accounting Research Seminar Series (VARS)<\/a> will take place <\/span>on Fridays at 16.15 CET on Zoom, with a start date of December 4<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Registration<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Registration is open and free. People interested in attending the seminar should register on https:\/\/eaa-vars.com\/<\/a> at least 24 hours prior to the start of each seminar to receive the actual zoom link to the seminar. The papers will be made available one week before the seminar via a link to the ARC Repository (only for EAA members).<\/span>
\nIf you are a PhD student or an early career faculty member, please consider registering for a 30-minute individual meeting<\/em> slot with the presenter to discuss your own research and theirs. These meetings take place before the seminar (between 14.00 and 16.00 CET). Registration will open one week prior to the seminar (at 9.00 CET) and slots will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. For the upcoming seminar with Beatriz Garcia Osma, the slots will open on November 27.<\/span>
\nBesides attending and contributing to the seminar session itself, we also encourage everybody to register and attend the virtual reception<\/em> which takes place after the seminar. The virtual reception is open to all interested parties and is meant for agenda-free group discussions and fun. However, \u201cplaces at the bar\u201d are limited and thus, the same registration procedure applies.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
