Turkey is a dynamic, emerging market economy strategically located between Europe and Asia and bordering the Mediterranean, Aegean and Black Seas. Its population is currently around 71,517,100 people. Turkey is a founding member of OECD, the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization, a member of NATO, the European Council and the European Parliament and also candidate for European Union. Turkey’s dynamic economy and it is a complex mix of modern industry and commerce. In 2008 per capita income is increased 12.7 % and reached 10,436 US Dollars. In 2008 total export figure is accrued as 132,003 million US Dollars and 95 % of exports are industrial goods. Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey. It is also largest city proper and second largest metropolitan area in Europe and fourth largest city proper in the world with a population of 12.5 million people. Istanbul is the cultural and financial center of Turkey. The city covers 27 districts of the Istanbul province. It is located on the Bosphorus Strait and encompasses the natural harbour known as the Golden Horn, in the northwest of the country. It extends both on the Europe (Thrace) and on the Asia (Anatolia) side of the Bosphorus, and is thereby the only metropolis in the world that is situated on two continents. EAA 33 rd Annual Congress’ participants are welcomed to Istanbul where past and present blend vividly and history endures in its monuments, museums, palaces, bazaars, street life and on the Bosphorus shores.
