Turkey is located where the two continents making up the old world, Asia and Europe are closest to each other and straddle the point where Europe meets Asia. Turkey also has a magnificent past, and is a land full of historic treasures from 13 successive civilizations spanning 10,000 years. Republic of Turkey was founded on October 29, 1923 by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. He led his country into peace and stability, with tremendous economic growth and complete modernization. Through decades of change and growth, Turkey till boasts this success, living by its adopted motto of “Peace at Home, Peace in the World”.

Turkey is a dynamic, emerging market economy strategically located between Europe and Asia and bordering the Mediterranean, Aegean and Black Seas. Its population is currently around 71,517,100 people. Turkey is a founding member of OECD, the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization, a member of NATO, the European Council and the European Parliament and also candidate for European Union.

Turkey’s dynamic economy and it is a complex mix of modern industry and commerce. In 2008 per capita income is increased 12.7 % and reached 10,436 US Dollars. In 2008 total export figure is accrued as 132,003 million US Dollars and 95 % of exports are industrial goods.

Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey. It is also largest city proper and second largest metropolitan area in Europe and fourth largest city proper in the world with a population of 12.5 million people. Istanbul is the cultural and financial center of Turkey. The city covers 27 districts of the Istanbul province. It is located on the Bosphorus Strait and encompasses the natural harbour known as the Golden Horn, in the northwest of the country. It extends both on the Europe (Thrace) and on the Asia (Anatolia) side of the Bosphorus, and is thereby the only metropolis in the world that is situated on two continents.

EAA 33 rd Annual Congress’ participants are welcomed to Istanbul where past and present blend vividly and history endures in its monuments, museums, palaces, bazaars, street life and on the Bosphorus shores. Congress valley has more than 40 hotels and almost 8,000 rooms. Almost each hotel, located in the congress valley is in the walking distance to Hilton Istanbul Hotel & Convention Center and offers various categories with different and reasonable price ranges.
