During Ottoman Empire the University has closed and opened 3 times for some reasons and finally after Turkish Republic was established it has renovated by M. Kemal Atat\u00fcrk. With its history, Istanbul University is one of the oldest universities in Europe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">In addition to its scientific impact, Istanbul University has also been a leader in the movement towards enlightenment and modernization that began with the Republic by acting as a bridge between science and life. It is aware of its role in the perpetuation of Atat\u00fcrk&#8217;s principles and reforms.
