Organismo Italiano di Contabilità (OIC) is a registered Foundation established in 2001, recognised by law as the Italian Accounting Standard Setter, with aims in the public interest. Its mission includes issuing of Italian accounting standards, benchmarked to best practice, for preparing financial statements under Civil Code and participating to the accounting and sustainability standard-setting process, at European and international level, liasing with the IFRS Foundation, the EFRAG and other similar bodies. In this regard, OIC participates in the public consultations and at the international debates, being present in several international bodies, both on financial reporting and sustainability reporting field. In this activity, OIC strives to ensure that national issues are adequately considered. The OIC standards and other pronouncements are approved by the Board of Directors, on the proposal of the two Technical Committees, one on financial reporting matter and the other on sustainability matter. OIC provides also support to the Legislator in accounting matters and gives advice, if set by law or upon request by the public institutions. OIC promotes research and education in the aforementioned fields, by organising conferences, seminars and collaborating with academia to support studies and empirical research, which are essential for a high-quality standard setting.

EFRAG is a private association established in 2001 with the encouragement of the European Commission. EFRAG’s mission is to serve the European public interest in both financial reporting and sustainability reporting by developing and promoting European views in the field of corporate reporting and by developing draft EU Sustainability Reporting Standards. In its financial reporting activities, EFRAG ensures that the European views are properly considered in the IASB’s standard-setting process and in related international debates. EFRAG ultimately provides advice to the European Commission on whether newly issued or revised IFRS Standards meet the criteria of the IAS Regulation for endorsement for use in the EU, including whether endorsement would be conducive to the European public good. In its sustainability reporting activities EFRAG provides technical advice to the European Commission in the form of draft EU Sustainability Reporting Standards accompanied by bases of conclusions and cost benefit analysis including impact analysis. EFRAG is operating in a fast-evolving environment. It is attentive to the need to adapt its activities to meet new opportunities and challenges in corporate reporting. |

The IFRS Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation created to serve the public interest by developing globally accepted accounting and sustainability disclosure standards for general purpose financial reporting that meet the needs of investors and other capital market participants for reliable, transparent and comparable information to make economic decisions. Our standards are developed by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).
