It takes place physically within the EAA Annual Congress location over a 4 to 5 hour period. A reflection on previous Hackathons can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/eaa-online.org\/arc\/blog\/2024\/06\/16\/sustainable-futures-hackathon-2024-hacking-place-in-accounting-education\/\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/eaa-online.org\/arc\/blog\/2025\/07\/28\/ai-driven-sustainability-transforming-accounting-education-for-a-sustainable-future\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Education Committee is accepting proposals for collaborations for <strong>Hackathon 2027 in Turin.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We welcome innovative ideas and discussions on a wide range of themes that are relevant and impactful in the field of education. Proposals should highlight the significance of the chosen topic, its relevance to current challenges, and the potential for creating meaningful impact.<\/p>\n<p>We encourage you to submit your proposals at your earliest convenience by emailing&nbsp;Joan Ballantine (<a href=\"mailto:joan.ballantine@ulster.ac.uk\">joan.ballantine@ulster.ac.uk<\/a>) and Baha Diyarov (<a href=\"mailto:baha.diyarov@eaa-online.be\">baha.diyarov@eaa-online.be<\/a>) <strong>before December 1<sup>st<\/sup> 2026. <\/strong>Hackathon proposals will be assessed by the EAA Education Committee and approved by the EAA Management Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Proposals should include a proposed title (topic), a 500-1000 word description (discussing and motivating the theme), details of any non-financial resources needed (e.g., room facilities) and facilitation team. &nbsp;M<em>ore information in available in the <strong>appendix<\/strong>. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>On behalf of the Education Committee, we are looking forward to receiving your application.<\/p>\n<p>Joan Ballantine, Chair Education Committee<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Appendix:<\/strong> <strong>2027 EAA Hackathon, Turin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The following principles should guide the design of this event: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>reflecting some of the pressing interdisciplinary problems society and\/or the profession face,<\/li>\n<li>appealing and challenging for all accounting educators,<\/li>\n<li>sharing a culture of product creativity, innovation and out-of-the-box thinking,<\/li>\n<li>positively influencing student learning, student engagement, or the overall student experience, while providing a more inclusive approach to learning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The event is organized and run by the EC according to the following principles:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The organizing team of each annual Hackathon event will normally consist of a maximum of 4 people.<\/li>\n<li>One EC member will act as a contact person with the local EAA Conference Organising Committee (e.g., to make room reservations).<\/li>\n<li>The EC does not exclude partnering with other parties for the event, provided that the interest is educational and not commercial.<\/li>\n<li>Previous Hackathon organizers are eligible to apply.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants are required to be EAA members for at least one (1) year.<\/li>\n<li>The number of participants will normally not exceed 60. Given that places to this event are limited, they will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.<\/li>\n<li>Participants will be asked to work in teams and prepare an output based on the guidance of the organizers and facilitators. Outputs will be presented by each team, with the organizing team and other facilitators will provide feedback to each team.<\/li>\n<li>After the event, the organizing team will be required to prepare a report with the key takeaways from the event, including summaries of the participant outputs and feedback from participants. The Education Committee will provide feedback and recommendations for improvement as necessary and communicate these to the MC.
