Job Description & Qualification
The Department of Economics and Management of the University of Padova is seeking excellent candidates to fill the following academic position:
 
Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) in Accounting
(Ricercatore a Tempo Determinato Tipo B: 13/B1 – SECS-P/07)
 
Job Qualifications
The candidate should have a PhD in Accounting, Finance or equivalent, obtained in Italy or abroad, and a promising track record of articles in peer-reviewed international journals. It is preferred a research/teaching focus in financial accounting, corporate finance or banking, auditing or corporate governance domains. 
 
Position
The position offered is at the Assistant Professor level (Ricercatore a Tempo Determinato – Tipo B – SECS-P/07). This is a tenure track 3-year full-time position with a teaching load of maximum 84 hours/year, possibly allocated in one term. At the end of the triennium, tenure and promotion at the Associate Professor level are granted if the candidate obtains the national scientific qualification (abilitazione scientifica nazionale ASN) and a positive evaluation of the triennium. 
 
The salary is comparable to other public European universities and, depending on individual circumstances (e.g. having spent at least two years of relevant work experience outside of Italy) candidates with European citizenship are eligible for tax abatements of up to 90% of annual salary advantages if meeting the requirements. 
 
The Department guarantees a starting research grant in addition to research funds allocated yearly based on past publication record. Early career researchers are strongly encouraged and supported in applying for additional research funds at the University level or to external funding bodies. The candidate will also be included in the accounting research group’ funding scheme to get additional support.
 
Requirements 
The Department is particularly interested in applicants who will contribute to the activities of the research group in accounting, as well as to its innovative teaching practices (e.g. blended and distance learning). Applicants need to meet the following conditions: 
a) demonstrate a promising track record of articles or working papers in peer-reviewed international journals; b) evidence of high-quality teaching; c) proficiency in spoken and written English.

About the Department
The Department of Economics and Management of the University of Padova was founded in 1989 and counts over 2000 students and more than 65 faculty members conducting research in economics or business fields. Since 2012 the University guide 'Grande Guida' ranks the Department among the top three institutions for teaching quality in the areas of Economics and Statistics. 
 
The Department ranked fourth in Italy in terms of research quality and productivity. Research carried out in accounting has been ranked third in Italy by the National independent agency (ANVUR).
 
Out of 850 assessed Universities, our Department is also at the top of the U-Multirank international ranking. The working language of the Department of Economics and Management is Italian, whereas teaching is done mainly in English across the Masters and PhD levels.
