W3-PROFESSORSHIP OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, WITH A FOCUS ON FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING

As part of the competence field FAACT (Finance, Accounting, Auditing, Controlling, Taxation), the Faculty of Management and Economics seeks to fill a W3-Professorship of Business Administration, with a focus on Financial Accounting (Successor of Prof. Dr. Bernhard Pellens) starting with October 1st, 2021.

The future chair holder should represent the field of financial accounting with a focus on the areas of financial accounting according to German GAAP (HGB) and IFRS as well as digitalisation of financial reporting and/or corporate social responsibility. We are looking for applicants who have a track record of relevant publications in leading national and international journals. In addition to excellent achievements in empirical-quantitative research and the regular transfer of knowledge from research into practice, participation in the bachelor‘s and master‘s programs offered by the faculty in German and English is required. This applies in particular to the planned master‘s degree program in „Finance, Accounting, Auditing, Controlling, Taxation“. Academic teaching requires experience with German and international accounting standards, particularly with regard to the development of the conceptual foundations. In addition, it is expected to participate in offers for students of minor subject studies as well as in executive education programs (e.g. § 8a WPO master‘s program).

Furthermore, applicants are expected to play a key role in shaping networking with partners from the corporate world and the faculty‘s transfer activities. A willingness of the professorship to cooperating with other faculties and research clusters is expected.

A positively evaluated junior professorship, habilitation or equivalent academic achievements as well as the proof of particular suitability for academic teaching are required, as is the participation in academic self-administration.

The following are also expected:

• a high level of commitment in teaching;
• the willingness to do interdisciplinary scientific work;
• significant acquisitions of third-party funded research projects;
• research or teaching stays abroad.

Since the professorship is expected to attract third-party funding, an overview of successfully raised funds is part of the application documents, which – in addition to the curriculum vitae, the list of publications and the teaching record – also contain statements for research and teaching activities (each maximum two pages) of the professorship.
