The Thirteenth International Conference of the Journal of International Accounting Research (JIAR)
June 25th – 28th, 2026
Korea University, Seoul, Korea
Submission Deadline: February 15, 2026 (early submission is encouraged)

The goal of this conference is to expand the diversity and scope of international accounting research, through increased understanding and awareness of the challenges and opportunities of international accounting. Original and rigorous research will provide academics, practitioners, and regulators with deeper insights into international accounting issues. Journal of International Accounting Research (JIAR) continues to welcome innovative and high-quality research that examines how accounting data affects capital market participants. Papers that address interesting and innovative research questions in all areas are welcomed. Papers can be submitted for consideration in one of two tracks: Plenary Session submissions or Concurrent Session submissions.

For Plenary Session Submission:
Please follow the regular submission procedure for JIAR outlined at: https://www.editorialmanager.com/jiar/default2.aspx.
Authors submitting to JIAR in this way should include two statements in their cover letter to the senior editor: (1) that they wish to have the paper considered for the JIAR Conference Plenary Session; and (2) whether they would like the paper to be considered for inclusion in a Concurrent Session in the event it is not selected for the Plenary Session. If the authors are interested in presenting at the concurrent sessions if not selected for the Plenary session, please also submit to jiarkorea@gmail.com. Concurrent session decisions will be made within one month after the submission deadline. Plenary session decisions will be made at a later date so papers may be reassigned to the plenary sessions. Accepted Plenary Session papers will be published in the Journal of International Accounting Research (conditional on satisfactory responses to reviewers’ comments). The conference will cover airfare and three nights’ hotel for one presenter (up to $1,500 USD).

For Concurrent Session Submission:
Papers submitted to the Concurrent Sessions will be considered for presentation at the conference, but not for publication in the Journal of International Accounting Research. Submissions should be made via email to jiarkorea@gmail.com. There will be a best paper award (including a track for PhD students’ papers) for the papers presented in the concurrent sessions. Please send a separate title page, listing all authors, and a blind version of the manuscript. If interested in competing for the best PhD student paper award, please indicate if any author is a PhD student.

Deadlines:
Paper submission: February 15, 2026
Decisions: March 10, 2026, for Concurrent sessions and April 25, 2026, for Plenary sessions.
Early registration: May 1, 2026

Doctoral and Early Career Consortium, Korea University, June 25th, 2026:
The Journal of International Accounting Research (JIAR) is excited to announce its 2026 Doctoral and Early Career
Consortium. This consortium offers a valuable platform for doctoral students and early-career faculty to engage with leading scholars in international accounting research. The program will consist of invited talks from senior faculty and panel sessions, so you are encouraged to apply even if you do not have research projects underway. Note that consortium attendees who wish to present their own research should submit it to the 2026 Journal of International Accounting Research Conference following the submission process outlined above. The consortium will run for the full day on June 25, 2026. Capacity is limited so interested applicants should submit their applications as soon as possible but no later than March 1, 2026. They will receive a decision email by March 15, 2026. Interested applicants should contact Professor Linda Myers (lmyers16@utk.edu).

Traveling to Seoul:
The easiest way to reach Seoul is by flying into Incheon International Airport (ICN), the country’s main international
gateway. From there, you can take the airport railroad, airport bus, or Uber directly to the city center.

If you have any questions, please email jiarkorea@gmail.com.
