About the Conference: The 1st Annual K-State Accounting Public Interest Symposium will be held in-person at Kansas State University on Thursday and Friday, June 18-19, 2026. The goal of this conference is to bring together scholars working on public interest issues in accounting across the globe. Research will encompass a “big tent” perspective, with a variety of public interest topics emphasized, including, but not limited to, social and environmental accounting, professional regulation, ethics, accounting organizations, corporate governance, and other areas where accounting and society intersect.
The conference is designed to be Thursday afternoon, followed by a full day on Friday, and will include a Thursday evening social and a Friday lunch.
Current and prospective PhD Students, early-career faculty, and anyone interested in learning more about public interest research in accounting are highly encouraged to attend.
Keynote Speaker: Charles H. Cho, PhD, CPA, Professor of Sustainability Accounting and the Erivan K. Haub Chair in Business & Sustainability at the Schulich School of Business, York University, and member of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)’s Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB).
Paper Submission Procedure: To be considered for inclusion in the program, please submit an electronic PDF version of the paper via e-mail with subject heading “K-State Accounting Public Interest Symposium Submission” to Amy Hageman at HagemanA@ksu.edu no later than May 1, 2026. Papers will be selected by May 22, 2026.
