BACKGROUND
We are pleased to announce the 21st EUFIN – The Conference of Accounting in Europe, to be held at the School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg, on August 27–28, 2026. Continuing its tradition, the 2026 conference will feature parallel sessions for the presentation and discussion of academic research papers, as well as panel sessions bringing together academics, standard setters, regulators, practitioners, and other stakeholders to discuss current issues in European accounting.
This year the conference will host a panel session on “ Reconciling Climate and Biodiversity Impact Reporting” and a panel session on “ IFRS 18 – New presentation format and aggregation in the statement of profit or loss”.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The workshop provides a platform for researchers to present their work and engage in accounting policy debates. Early career academics are especially encouraged to participate and benefit from the stimulating conference environment. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, financial and sustainability reporting; governance, accountability, and taxation within the EU or its Member States; and economic or regulatory aspects of corporate reporting, standard setting, auditing, and enforcement.
CALL FOR PAPERS
Papers on any aspect of corporate reporting in Europe are invited, with a particular welcome to practice- and policy-oriented research. Papers written in English should be submitted electronically by 5 June 2026 via https://eufin-conf.org/. Papers will be subject to a blind review process. Authors will be notified of acceptance by 3rd July 2026.
ACCOUNTING IN EUROPE – FAST TRACK, PAPER DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP, & SPECIAL ISSUE
Papers addressing policy-relevant topics aligned with Accounting in Europe’s aim and scope may be considered for a fast-track publication process.
PhD candidates and early career scholars are also invited to join a paper development workshop, where detailed feedback and guidance will be provided.
To help authors in developing and refining their papers for submission to the Accounting in Europe’s Special Issue, this year there will be a Special Track at the conference on the theme: Implementing the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive: Challenges, Opportunities, and Emerging Practices.
Authors must indicate they want to be considered for one of these special tracks when submitting their papers.
Depending on the review outcome, papers from the fact-track and paper development workshop track may be published in the journal.
