We kindly invite you to submit a paper for, and consider attending the European Accounting Association’s 43rd Annual Congress on 27-29 May 2020 in Bucharest, Romania. The congress will take place at 2 5-star hotels situated downtown Bucharest, namely the Athenee Palace Hilton Hotel and the Radisson Blu Hotel. Additionally, iconic restaurant and locations have been chosen to host the congresses’ social events, completing the experience of the congress delegates. The Romanian Athenaeum, the Palace of the Parliament, the Beer Wagon and Manuc’s Inn will certainly offer long-lasting memories to participants.

A series of other events will, of course, take place in conjunction with the congress. The EAA’s 36th Doctoral Colloquium is scheduled on 23-26 May 2019. The 7th PhD Forum will take place on 27 May 2019, just before the opening of the congress.

All the relevant information about the programme outline, deadlines, submission instructions, congress and social venues, hotel accommodation, as well as travel and local cuisine, tourist attractions in Bucharest and Romania, and other information that is helpful when considering attending the events, was already posted to the congress website here. The deadline for paper submission was set to Sunday, 1 December 2019 12:00 noon GMT. All submissions for the congress are dealt with via the congress electronic submission system, already active. Should you have questions, please contact Baha Diyarov, the paper review coordinator, via email, at submissions@eaacongress.org.

We are also drawing your attention to the newest EAA initiative for its annual congress. EAA thus proposes, at Prof. Robert Faff’s suggestion, at its 2020 congress, a Shark Tank event that will put the nominees of a selection process in the position to pitch their research proposals to a significant number of editors of international journals (10 confirmed to date). Please see the dedicated announcement on ARC’s website here and do not hesitate to contact Prof. Robert Faff at r.faff@business.uq.edu.au for additional information and any clarifications.

The EAA 2020’s local organizing committee (LOC) is, therefore, very much looking forward to hosting you to Bucharest, Romania, in May 2020! We hope that you will consider attending the events we have planned for congress delegates.

Catalin Albu, Chair of the EAA 2020 Congress,

On behalf of the EAA 2020 LOC
