Covid-19 and lockdowns have accelerated the gradual move to online and hybrid teaching from an evolution to a revolution – during 2020 and the first half of 2021, educators were confronted with digital challenges and new pedagogical approaches that only seem to be the online equivalent of traditional classroom teaching. Still an undiscovered land for many, video conferencing platforms like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or Cisco Webex Meetings put restrictions on what the educator could do and what the students experience. More than ever before, educators need to become engaging online content creators to capture their students’ minds and imagination.

If you were unhappy how your online teaching looked like last year – if you want to explore ways to create content for your students that amount to more than just sharing a screen – then the Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) Studio is for you!

As part of the EAA Education Committee online workshops initiative, we are happy to share an ongoing YouTube video series on OBS in Higher Education, created by Dr Gerhard Kristandl, online educator and learning technologist. Please subscribe to Gerhard’s YouTube channel to avoid missing out on future content and stay tuned for more live sessions with advice on developing your OBS skills and its use in live online and blended teaching and learning.
