The Journal of Accounting and Public Policy (JAPP) is pleased to announce its ninth annual conference, which rotates among the IE Business School, the London School of Economics and Political Science and the University of Maryland's R. H. Smith School of Business. The ninth conference will be held on June 5, 2020, at University of Maryland's R. H. Smith School of Business, College Park (MD).

The theme of the conference will be:

Digitization and Analytics in Accounting:

A Public Policy Perspective

Potential issues of interest that fit within this general theme include, but are not limited to:

  • the use of new methodologies in analyzing the effects of accounting regulation
  • how digitization and/or analytics affects the role of accounting regulators
  • dissemination of private financial information and monitoring by market regulators
  • cybersecurity and accounting regulation
  • the role of digital media in the accounting standard setting open discussion process
  • the effects of the digital revolution on accounting professionals
  • the impact of cyber insecurity on accounting fraud
  • the impact of blockchain on accounting research and/or practice
  • the impact of artificial intelligence on research and/or regulation and practice

Papers submitted to the JAPP conference will be subject to a blind review process. Papers accepted for presentation at the conference will also be considered for publication in a special theme issue of JAPP.

PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: Papers for the 2020 conference issue may be submitted through the Editorial Manager electronic platform by December 31, 2019. You can access the platform through this link.
