Description
The Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance (JAAF) Symposium will take place October 3–4, 2025, at the Gabelli School of Business, Fordham University Lincoln Center Campus in New York City. The Symposium is arranged in collaboration with Fordham University. It will begin at 2:00 p.m. on October 3, and will include an afternoon session on October 3 and a morning session on October 4. Symposium attendance is by invitation only.

Topic
We invite submissions of high-quality research papers, addressing topical research questions in the broad areas of AI, Big Data and ESG. Submissions of papers employing novel research methods or data will be particularly welcomed.

Relevant topics for the Symposium include (but are not limited to):
– Impact of AI and Big Data on investors, other capital market participants and non-capital-market stakeholders use, process, gather and produce ESG-related information
– Challenges and opportunities that AI and Big Data introduce for financial reporting
– Use of emerging AI technologies and Big Data in research in accounting and related fields
– Environmental and social disclosures
– Incentives and economic consequences of ESG reporting activities
– How investors, other capital market participants and non-capital-market stakeholders use, process, gather and produce ESG-related information

Paper Sessions
Papers accepted for the Symposium will have the opportunity to be reviewed under fast track for publication in JAAF with the ultimate editorial decision to be determined according to JAAF’s policies. Papers not accepted still can be resubmitted to JAAF as regular new submissions.

Professor C. S. Agnes Cheng, Ph.D. (JAAF Conference Editor) and Professor. Yuan Xie, Ph.D. (Guest Editor), in consultation with Professor Xiao-Jun Zhang, Ph.D. (JAAF Editor-in-Chief), will select papers to be included in the Symposium. One-night hotel stay, as well as domestic airfare (in total no more than $800) for presenters will be covered for one presenting author per accepted paper.

There is a $50 fee for each submitted paper. Credit card payments can be made through the submission fee payment link (https://secure.touchnet.com/C20175_ustores/web/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCTID=2856). When you submit your paper, please include the confirmation email of submission fee payment.

Submission Procedures and Rules
Papers submissions should be emailed to jaafsymposium@fordham.edu. In the subject of the email, authors should indicate that the submission is for the JAAF Symposium 2025. Three files should be submitted as attachments to the email: 1) The title page that includes the title, author names, affiliations, keywords and any acknowledgements, 2) The main text that includes an abstract and no information on the authors, and 3) The confirmation email of submission fee payment.

The deadline for paper submission is July 15, 2025.
Authors should submit only full papers (i.e., complete scholarly research projects that could reasonably be submitted to a public working paper database such as SSRN). Proposals will not be accepted. There is no specific manuscript format and no page limit, but papers should generally not exceed 50 pages.

Presenters of accepted papers must register as symposium participants.
