Overview
The objectives of this course are to provide PhD students with (1) a solid understanding of the role of experiments for addressing accounting research questions and (2) the necessary tools to analyze and run (field) experiments themselves to address their own research questions. In Part A, which is taught online on May 18 and 19, Bart Dierynck and Eddy Cardinaels develop the foundations of experimental research, from conceptualization to practical implementation. In Part B, which is taught in Tilburg from June 10-16, Willie Choi and Kathryn Kadous focus on advanced topics and applications in different accounting areas. In both parts, actively acquiring knowledge, asking questions, and presenting your own work is cultivated. This course is useful for any PhD-student interested in experimental research as well as for any PhD-student that needs to sharpen his/her skills regarding research design and methodology.
