Outstanding International Accounting Dissertation Award of AAA

The International Accounting Section of the American Accounting Association invites submissions for the Outstanding International Accounting Dissertation Award, which honors an exceptional doctoral dissertation completed during the previous year.

Dissertations will be evaluated by an Award Committee appointed by the Section President. In determining the award recipient, the Committee will consider the importance of the research questions, the quality of the execution of research, and the contribution to the literature.

The award recipient will be announced and formally recognized at the Annual Meeting of the American Accounting Association in August.

Eligibility and Submission Guidelines

1. Doctoral dissertations successfully defended during the most recent calendar year are eligible for consideration with topics in areas of financial, managerial, auditing, taxation, and information systems.
2. Authors wishing to be considered for the award should submit the following materials to the Award Committee Chair no later than March 15 annually for dissertations defended during the previous calendar year (i.e., no later than March 15, 2026, for dissertations defended in 2025):

• • A dissertation abstract (Word or PDF, max 7 pages) describing the research question, importance of the research, theoretical foundations, methodology, and key findings.
  • A letter from the dissertation committee chair (Word or PDF, max 2 pages) confirming the dissertation defense date, which may also serve as a nomination statement that assesses the importance and quality of the work.
  • The complete dissertation (PDF format).

The required materials as an email attachment will be sent by the deadline to the Chair of the Outstanding International Accounting Dissertation Award Committee:
