ASSIGNMENT
The Faculty of Economics and Business at Ghent University has a vacancy for a full-time lecturer position (tenure track) in the Accountancy, Corporate Finance and Taxation department, in the field of Financial Accounting and Auditing.
This is a five-year temporary appointment within the tenure track system. After this five-year period and a favorable evaluation, it will result in a permanent appointment as a senior lecturer.
The start date for the vacant position is September 1, 2026.
The lecturer fulfills a teaching role in various programs at our faculty, both bachelor’s and master’s programs. In addition, the lecturer independently develops scientific research.

Academic education
You provide high-quality education in the fields of Audit and Financial Accounting.
You will teach various courses in the field of Audit in the Master’s in Business Economics, specializing in Accountancy, such as Audit and International Auditing Standards. This is an English-taught master’s program.
You teach a course in the field of Financial Accounting in the first year of the Bachelor’s program in Business Administration – to a large group of students – such as Corporate Accounting. This is a Dutch-taught program, and the course requires expertise in Belgian Accounting Law (Belgian GAAP).
The specific teaching assignment is subject to and evolves in line with possible programme changes in the faculty’s programmes and the educational needs of the department.
You actively contribute to educational innovation within the faculty.
Scientific research
You independently develop scientific research and are open to collaboration with other members of the department.
The lecturer’s underlying research field is situated in the domain of Financial Accounting and/or Auditing, and is preferably complementary, but still shows sufficient similarities with the research currently conducted in the department.
You are expected to publish in leading international journals, in accordance with Ghent University’s publication policy.
You initiate new research lines and develop project proposals with a view to acquiring research funding.
You are building an international network.
You will supervise master’s and doctoral students in their dissertations. You will provide motivational and coaching guidance, focusing on the growth and development of your students and staff.
Scientific services
Using your expertise and experience, you will contribute to the work of the department, faculty, and university, and/or undertake external assignments for social and scientific services, for example, regarding collaboration with the audit office.

APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
We offer you a temporary appointment under a Tenure Track system for a period of five years. If the university board approves your appointment, it will be converted into a permanent position as a senior lecturer.
If you already hold a professorship at a university or research institution, you may be appointed immediately as a lecturer, without prejudice to the possibility of a temporary appointment.
The entry into service is from September 1, 2026.
