At the School of Business, Economics and Social Sciences, the University of Graz is seeking to appoint a

Professor of Accounting and Transparency

(40 hours per week; selection procedure in accordance with Section 98 of the Universities Act (UG); permanent employment according to the Austrian Law on Salaried Employment (AngG); expected starting date March 1st 2026)

The professor will be responsible for the field of accounting in research and teaching and collaborate closely with the Center for Accounting Research. The position requires either an analytical research orientation or archival empirical research orientation compatible with analytical accounting research. A strong internationally oriented research profile and publications at the highest level are expected.

Employment requirements:

  • • Completed relevant domestic or equivalent foreign university education (Doctorate or PhD)
  • • Habilitation or equivalent qualification in Business Administration (accounting)
  • • Outstanding academic qualifications in research and teaching in the relevant discipline and for the profile of the professorship (commensurate with stage of academic career and interruptions in employment due to caring responsibilities), proven particularly through publications at the Academic Journal Guide (ABS/AJG) 4*/4 level
  • • Either an analytical research orientation or an archival empirical research orientation compatible with analytical accounting research
  • • Willingness to teach on the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programmes
  • • Willingness to participate in the administration and development of the Accounting Department
  • • Willingness to contribute to curriculum development
  • • Willingness to contribute to the field of excellence “Smart Regulation”
  • • Success in attracting subject-specific project grants, particularly where competitively awarded third-party funds are concerned
  • • Ability to teach in English and German
  • • Skills in higher education didactics including the use of digital media
  • • Skills in the supervision and guidance of early-stage researchers
  • • Professional experience abroad during academic career
  • • Management and leadership experience
  • • Gender mainstreaming skills

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, aiming for academic excellence and integrity in research and teaching. He/she will have demonstrated ability to collaborate constructively in a responsible manner and inspire colleagues and students in an interdisciplinary, internationally oriented context.

Salary scheme of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Staff (Universitäten-KV): A1

Minimum salary

The minimum remuneration as stated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement is EUR 89.075,00 gross per year. Salary subject to negotiation.
