We are looking for an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Accounting.
This position is located at the accounting discipline at the Business studies unit of the Faculty of Management and Business
In terms of research, we see accounting as a broad and wide-ranging social and organizational practice, which can be studied with different research designs making use of a diverse set of research methodologies and datasets. With our teaching we seek to ensure that accounting students leave the university with the skills and knowledge that make them prepared for demanding and diverse professional roles within accountancy and beyond both in Finland and internationally, as well as with an ability to take part in academic research.
The research activities of the candidate selected for the position will be integrated into our active and ambitious research work, which we currently organize through two different research groups: The Financial Management and Accounting Research Group is focused on financial and managerial accounting and control systems, while the Research Group on Sustainability and Critical Accounting focuses on exploring the role of accounting in societies as well as the complex relationship of accounting and sustainability. The selected candidate’s research profile should emphasize relevant aspects of these focal areas. The research profile should also demonstrate capabilities for methodologically diverse research and teaching activities.

The posts of Assistant Professor and Associate Professor require good communication skills in English and Finnish or a strong motivation to learn Finnish as the teaching program is mainly in Finnish.
We offer
Initial appointment as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor is for five years and subject to successful performance you will become a tenured member of faculty at the end of the first five-year period. You will be supported throughout the five-year period to ease transition to a permanent faculty position. A trial period of six months applies to all our new employees. The appointee is expected to start working on 1.8.2025 or as mutually agreed.
Salaries are based on the job demands and employees’ personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. The job-demand level of an Assistant Professor is 6 and that of an Associate Professor is 7. The typical starting salary of an Assistant Professor will range between 4600 – 4900 EUR/month and that of an Associate Professor between 5300 – 5700 EUR/month. Higher salaries may be agreed dependent upon experience and/or performance.
