Getting to Valencia

Getting to Valencia

Arriving by plane

Valencia is easily reached by direct flights from many main cities both in Spain and from the most major European cities, and from all over the world via Madrid or Barcelona (plane – train connection might be also an interesting option).

How to arrive from the airport:

  • By taxi :

The journey to the Valencia Conference Centre takes about 25 minutes and costs around 18-22 €. Taxi journeys that start at the airport are always more expensive because they have a minimum fare of 12 € that includes an extra charge of 5.40 €. Most taxis do not allow credit card payments, so be sure to have some exchanged money when arriving.

  • By underground:

In total, the Valencia underground system has 9 different lines; you can distinguish them more easily by its colours, but be sure to be going on the correct direction. These nine lines cover the city centre and it surrounds neighborhoods and towns, being the map divided into 4 zones (A, B, C and D). Prices vary on these zones.

There are two underground lines that link the airport, the city centre and the port : Line 3 Rafelbunyol / Aeroport and Line 5 Marítim Serrería / Aeroport. When arriving at Valencia, to get to the Valencia Conference Centre or nearby hotels you may follow these instructions: At the airport you must get line icon_linea3 direction Rafelbunyol or line http://www.nss-mic.org/2011/Public/images/line5.jpgdirection Marítim-Serrería, get down at the station called Àngel Guimerà and from there, take direction Seminari-CEU, Bétera, Llíria or Paterna and get off at Beniferri. Walk north for 5-10 minutes (Meliá Valencia Hotel, Sorolla Palace Hotel, and Conference Centre are about 400 metres). Fare: 1.50 € (single ticket, zone A, cardboard price not included. It costs 1 €. It is reusable. You can either recharge it with the same type of ticket or charge it with a different type once the prior ticket charge has been used). More info: Metrovalencia website.

Arriving by train

There are very comfortable trains from the main Spanish cities(http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/index.html). The high speed train (AVE) from Madrid (Puerta de Atocha) and Seville (Santa Justa), and the Euromed service from Barcelona (Sants) and Alicante all arrive at the new principal station ‘València-Joaquín Sorolla’. The second station ‘València-Nord’ is the central station for the local train network. We would remind you to check the information on your ticket so that you know which station you arrive at or leave from.

A taxi from either of the train stations to the conference venue area (where the recommended hotels are located) will cost approximately 10-12 € and take about 10 minutes.

There is a fast and efficient metro (underground) service from either of the train stations to the conference venue area (where the recommended hotels are located):

Fare: 1.50 € (single ticket, zone A, cardboard price not included. It costs 1 €. It is reusable. You can either recharge it with the same type of ticket or charge it with a different type once the prior ticket charge has been used). More info: Metrovalencia website.
