Publishing is hard early in a career, and it is harder when your work is on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Reviewers may be unfamiliar with the literature. Data on identity categories differ across European jurisdictions, or do not exist. The contribution has to be argued for rather than assumed. Papers that could matter stall at the framing stage and never recover.

This workshop exists to move that work forward. It opens the EAA’s first developmental series on DEI research in accounting with three parts running from October 2026 through the 2027 Congress. It is designed for scholarship that is still taking shape.

Part One brings together senior scholars and journal editors for a panel on what makes DEI research publishable, followed by small-group breakout rooms where authors receive structured feedback on an extended abstract from a mentor and a small group of peers.

Unlike most paper development workshops, we are not looking for near-final manuscripts. We are looking for work at the stage where framing can still change because that is where these papers are most often won or lost.

• Authors with DEI work in progress who want feedback on an extended abstract
• Junior faculty and doctoral students building a DEI research agenda
• Experienced scholars willing to serve as mentors and discussants
• Anyone who wants to attend the panel and learn how this research gets published
