Please find the complete information and documents required to obtain a Romanian visa on the website of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs here.

You can consult this link for updates regarding Romania’s joining the Schengen area at the end of March 2024. The list of countries whose nationals need a visa is given here; the list of countries whose nationals are visa exempt is given here. Congress delegates wishing to participate to the congress should make sure that they hold the relevant documentation before making concrete plans to travel to Romania. Please regularly check the website of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs here for the latest information.

Citizens of the European Union or from the European Economic Area (EEA) can enter Romania at any border checkpoint where they must submit a valid identity document – passport or another identity document acknowledged by the Romanian State. The holders of Schengen visas with two or multiple entries, of national visas or residence permits issued by Schengen States are not required a Romanian visa to enter, transit or stay on the territory of Romania for 90 days in any 180-day period. Therefore, one can travel to Romania without a visa only if one holds a valid Schengen visa with at least two entries.

Romania has joined the Schengen zone with aerial and maritime borders starting 31 March 2024. All official systems are now updated and functional. Congress delegates should check with the appropriate consular services in their country of origin the visa requirements. The Uniform Visa issued by Romanian authorities starting 1 April 2024 are valid throughout the entire Schengen zone. More information is posted here. You can start the application process here.
