2025 JBFA Capital Markets Conference

Call for Papers

The 2025 JBFA Conference will be held at the University of Padova. The Editors are grateful to John Wiley & Sons and the International Centre for Research in Accounting (ICRA) for their sponsorship of this annual event, and to the Department of Economics and Management at the University of Padova for their sponsorship and co-operation in hosting the event.

Padova is an historic city in the north of Italy, close to Venice, and with excellent transport links to the rest of Italy, including Rome, where the European Accounting Association Annual Congress will be held the week following the JBFA Conference.

JBFA publishes papers in the areas of financial and non-financial reporting and performance measurement, corporate finance, accounting-based asset pricing, corporate governance, and their interfaces. We invite submissions of high-quality research papers addressing topical research questions in any of these areas.

Submissions of papers employing novel research methods or data will be particularly welcomed. Preference will be given to submissions that take an international perspective or exploit international institutional differences. We are open to theoretical papers that have clear predictions motivating new empirical tests and/or explanations of existing empirical regularities. We are also interested in comprehensive reviews and critiques of international research literatures within our areas of interest.

Original papers should be submitted no later than November 30, 2024. Conference submissions will be treated as submissions to JBFA. Papers will be reviewed and decisions on accepted papers will be conveyed to authors before 31 March 2025. Subject to satisfactory post-Conference revisions, papers accepted for the Conference will be published in a special Conference Issue of JBFA in 2026.

Conference attendance is by invitation only. The Conference will start with a reception in the evening of May 21, 2025 and end at lunchtime on May 23, 2025. Further programme details will be provided when invitations are issued in early April, 2025.
