About

Introduction
Notably WCAH is held every four years in major countries, thus playing a pivotal role in promoting the research and exchange of global accounting history.

The 16th World Congress of Accounting Historians is scheduled to be held in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, from June 25th to June 27th, 2024. Hosted by Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and co-organized by Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance , the 16th WCAH is approved by the Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China and strongly supported by the Accounting History Professional Committee of the Chinese Accounting Society. The 16th WCAH marks the first edition of the Congress ever held in China and we look forward to the gathering of experts and scholars in the study of global accounting history in China so as to add new splendor to accounting
history research with the profoundness of 5,000 years of Chinese civilization.

Themed “Accounting in the History of Science, Technology and Human Civilization”, the conference aims to provide a high-quality international academic exchange platform for experts and scholars from all over the world to present and discuss research on all topics, methodologies and theoretical perspectives in the field of accounting history. We especially encourage young scholars to conduct innovative and interdisciplinary research using new methods and taking fresh perspectives based on source materials such as accounting books, etc.

In the 16th WCAH, it is our great honor to have with us Professor Guo Daoyang, an internationally renowned expert in accounting history, the author of General Accounting History of China, the world’s first general accounting history book. Other well knowninternational scholars have been invited to deliver plenary address, including: prof. Gary Previts, founder and first President of the Academy of Accounting Historians, and founding editor of the Accounting Historians Journal; prof. Massimo Sargiacomo, former president of the Academy of Accounting Historians, and President of the Italian Society of Accounting History; prof. Richard Macve, Emeritus Professor of Accounting at the London School of Economics and Political Sciences, and Honorary Professor at Dongbei University of Finance
& Economics, Dalian, PRChina; Prof Shyam Sunder, James L. Frank Professor Emeritus of
Accounting, Economics and Finance at the Yale School of Management and Department of
Economics.

Accounting in the History of Science, Technology and Human Civilization

Papers in all fields of accounting history research are invited. Studies on accounting history and related fields are welcome, especially those using new historical materials, new methods and taking new perspectives; interdisciplinary research, quantitative historical research, and research on international communication and exchange of accounting culture.

V. Requirements
1. The paper can be written in either Chinese or English, and the length should be no less than 5,000 words and no more than 11,000 words (references included). It should be the author’s original research with important academic value and a topic consistent with the theme of the Congress. The paper should be written with academic novelty, clear arguments and in refined text;

2. The author should have legal copyright over the paper. For a co-authored paper, the authorship signature should be made upon consent of all authors, so as to ensure that there is no dispute over the right of signature of the paper. Should there be any dispute over the right of signature, all responsibilities shall be borne by the author;

3. The content of the paper should not be confidential and not involve sensitive political
and/or religious issues;

4. Academic misconducts such as multiple submissions and plagiarism are strictly prohibited. The author should be responsible for the authenticity of the paper, the reliability of the data, the credibility of the conclusion, and ensure that it conforms to legal, academic and moral norms.

VI. Review
All submissions received before the deadline will be evaluated anonymously by the Scientific Committee of the Conference established by the organizer, and the acceptance notice and formal invitation letter will be sent to the first author of the paper before March 31, 2024 . After receiving the email, the author is expected to visit the conference website tocomplete the registration and confirm the participation within one week, otherwise it will be deemed as a waiver of participation. Early bird registration will close on April 13, 2024. After that date full registration fees will be requested to any presenting or non presenting delegate.
