The EAA Hackathon brings together accounting academics from across the world, normally on the afternoon preceding the EAA Annual Congress proceedings, to collaborate in small teams on creatively ‘hacking’ elements of the accounting curriculum. It takes place in person at the Congress location over a 4 to 5 hour period.
The Education Committee welcomes innovative ideas on a wide range of themes relevant and impactful for accounting education. Proposals should highlight the significance of the chosen topic, its relevance to current challenges and its potential for meaningful impact, and should include:
The event should reflect pressing interdisciplinary problems facing society and/or the profession, appeal to and challenge all accounting educators, foster creativity and out-of-the-box thinking, and positively influence student learning, engagement or experience while providing a more inclusive approach to learning.
The organising team normally consists of up to four people, including the Education Committee chair and at least one Committee member as co-organisers. Applicants must have been EAA members for at least two years and must not be, or have been in the two years before the deadline, members of the Education Committee. Previous Hackathon organisers may apply. Participation is normally limited to 60 people, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
