Dublin, 22 October 2026

ACCA Europe and BDO Ireland are delighted to invite you to our high-level hybrid conference, Investing in Skills for SME Competitiveness: An EU–Ireland Dialogue for the 2026 Presidency, on Thursday 22 October 2026, starting at 9.00 IST.

Online and at BDO offices in Dublin

An associated event of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU
An associated event of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU

This conference brings together EU and Irish leaders to discuss how smarter investment in skills, training and digital readiness can strengthen SME competitiveness across Europe. We will explore how targeted investment in education, training and skills, particularly within the accounting profession, can strengthen SME competitiveness across Europe.

The event will run in two parts:

  • An online panel exploring Europe’s skills and talent challenges and the policy initiatives shaping the future workforce.
  • An in-person panel in Dublin, hosted by BDO Ireland, where Irish policymakers, business leaders and accounting professionals will examine how Ireland can help drive solutions during its EU Presidency.

We are honoured to welcome European Commissioner Michael McGrath for an in-person keynote address.

A key outcome will be a post-event white paper presenting 5 key recommendations emerging from the discussions, shared with speakers, participants and policymakers.

This conference will feed into key EU priorities – including the Union of Skills, the Savings & Investment Union, the Fair Mobility Package, the EU Inc. Regulation and the next long‑term EU budget – while supporting Ireland’s ambition to reduce SME burdens and boost competitiveness. By bringing together leaders from government, EU institutions, professional bodies, academia and SMPs, the event aims to equip the profession to help SMEs navigate digitalisation, sustainability and AI-driven change in a rapidly changing European economy.

Participation in the conference is free of charge.

To join the event, please complete the registration form.

Best wishes,
