The 2023 JBFA Conference will be held in Liverpool’s historic docklands area. The Editors are grateful to the KPMG Foundation and Wiley Publishers for their sponsorship of this annual event.

We invite submissions of high-quality research papers addressing topical research questions in the broad areas of financial reporting, risk and valuation of corporate securities, corporate financial policy, non-financial reporting and ESG performance.

Submissions of papers employing novel research methods or data will be particularly welcomed. We encourage submissions to take an international perspective and exploit international institutional differences. We are open to theoretical papers that have clear predictions motivating new empirical tests and/or explanations of existing empirical regularities. We are also interested in comprehensive and critical reviews of international research within our areas of interest.

Original papers should be submitted at https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/jbfa no later than December 20, 2022. Conference submissions will be treated as submissions to JBFA (and hence require a submission fee). Papers will be refereed and the authors of accepted papers will be notified before the end of March 2023. Subject to satisfactory revision, papers accepted for the Conference will be published in a special Conference Issue of JBFA in 2024.

Conference attendance is by invitation only. The Conference will start in the evening of May 17, 2023 with an Early Bird reception and end at lunchtime on May 19, 2023. Hotel accommodation for the nights of May 17 and 18 will be provided for one author of each selected conference paper. Further detailed arrangements will be provided when invitations are sent out in early April, 2023, once the conference program has been finalized.
