We are happy to announce that the 13th European Auditing Research Network (EARNet) Symposium will take place on September 12–13, 2025, in Vienna, Austria. Vienna, Austria’s capital, is the country’s most populous city, with nearly 1.9 million residents. Straddling the Danube River, it is celebrated for its imperial heritage and vibrant cultural scene. The city features historical landmarks like Schönbrunn Palace and the Hofburg. Recognized by UNESCO, Vienna’s famed coffee houses encapsulate its rich social fabric. Vienna is also a nexus of classical music, home to legendary composers like Beethoven and Mozart. Culturally rich, it offers a variety of operas and orchestras. Culinary enthusiasts can explore an array of traditional Austrian dishes and international cuisine.
The EARNet Symposium is a major event in Europe for the presentation and discussion of auditing research. The Symposium includes parallel sessions of presentation and discussion of research papers, a plenary panel session, and a keynote speech. There is a best-paper award. A Ph.D. workshop precedes the symposium on Thursday, September 11th, 2025. At the Ph.D. workshop, young European researchers get feedback on their Ph.D. proposals or papers from experienced international scholars in auditing research.
Papers need to be submitted online at https://ear-net.org/submissions. In addition to papers reporting completed studies, we also welcome submissions of preregistered study proposals. All papers accepted for the conference are assigned a discussant. Deadline for submission of papers/proposals to the Symposium and papers/proposals to the Ph.D. Workshop is March 31st, 2025. All authors will be notified by June 1st, 2025.
For the first time, a workshop for early-to-mid-career faculty precedes the symposium on Thursday, September 11th, 2025. The workshop offers faculty an opportunity to interact with peers and more senior colleagues to discuss the new demands and challenges they encounter.
More information on this event will follow. There are no submission requirements. The conference fee of € 375 (Early bird registration until July 15th, 2025) or € 450 (Registration after July 15th, 2025), includes access to the program, papers, and conference, including coffee breaks, lunches, the opening reception, and the conference dinner. Students whose paper is accepted for plenary presentation in the Ph.D. workshop get a conference fee waiver. The Ph.D. workshop itself is free of cost.
