The Department of Accountancy at Tilburg University is proud to invite you to the first Tilburg Winter Symposium and Research Camp to be held on December 8-9, 2022. This years’ symposium and conference focuses on the theme Accounting for a Sustainable Economy.

The two-day event builds upon the long-standing tradition of the Tilburg Spring/Winter Camp and aims to bring together accounting researchers and practitioners to discuss emerging issues in the field of accounting. The first day will feature keynotes and panel discussions by leading academics and practitioners in the field. The second day will bring together accounting researchers to share and discuss their latest research. Given the intimate nature of the event, we encourage all participants to attend both days.

For the second day of the event, we invite submissions of original papers addressing research questions related to this years’ theme Accounting for a Sustainable Economy. This includes, but is not limited to studies that examine issues such as:

• Role of ESG disclosures in investor or other stakeholder decision making
• Measurement of sustainability and other ESG metrics
• ESG targets and reporting
• Sustainability reporting standards and enforcement
• Role of audit committees and external auditors or assurance providers
• The interplay between managerial control systems and ESG activities
