The Schulich School of Business is seeking to hire an emerging or established scholar and educator in Accounting for a tenure-track or tenured professorial stream position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor effective January 1, 2023 or July 1, 2023. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.

Applicants at the Assistant Professor level should have advanced working papers, or recently accepted manuscripts, demonstrating the potential for publishing in top tier accounting journals. Preference will be given to scholars doing empirical-archival research in one of the following areas: management accounting, financial accounting, auditing, taxation or accounting analytics. Applicants at more senior levels should have a demonstrated track record of impactful research and teaching in these same areas.

Candidates will have a, or will soon be awarded, a PhD in accounting. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a recognized professional accounting designation. Candidates who are at more advanced career stages should be able to assist with the supervision of PhD students and to teach advanced courses in the Master of Accounting Program, as well as in the BBA, MBA and PhD Programs. Advanced candidates should also be able to demonstrate teaching excellence, with curriculum development as an asset. Advanced candidates will also be expected to contribute positively to the collegial governance of the Accounting Area and the School as a whole.

The successful candidate will be expected to engage in outstanding, innovative, and, as appropriate,
externally funded research at the highest level.

Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence of a recognized international calibre as demonstrated in: the research statement; a record of publications (or forthcoming publications) with significant journals in the field; presentations at major conferences; awards and accolades; and strong recommendations from referees of high standing.

The position will involve graduate teaching and supervision, as well as undergraduate teaching and the
successful candidate must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through: the teaching statement; teaching accomplishments and pedagogical innovations including in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning; teaching evaluations; and strong letters of reference.
