Position context
Toulouse School of Management (TSM) is a management school within Université Toulouse Capitole. It offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programmes, as well as executive and continuing education. EQUIS-accredited, TSM pursues a strategy centred on internationalisation, research excellence and pedagogical innovation.
TSM Research (UMR CNRS 5303) creates and disseminates high-quality academic knowledge across the main fields of management: accounting, control and auditing; finance; marketing; human resource management; and strategy. The CP3C Chair will be affiliated with the Accounting, Control and Auditing research group.
Research project
The CP3C Chair aims to develop an ambitious international research programme on how companies address climate change and on the related financial and non-financial consequences.
The research will examine, in particular, how companies account for and disclose climate-related issues, and how they communicate their climate-related actions and commitments to investors and society more broadly. The project may foster collaborations with other research groups at TSM Research and with other disciplines, including law, economics, political science, and climate and environmental sciences.
Teaching project
The Chair holder will have an annual teaching load of 42 hours of lectures (CM) or 64 equivalent tutorial hours (ETD). Teaching will take place within TSM programmes, particularly at Bachelor’s and Master’s level in Accounting. Contributions may also be considered within the ENGAGE.eu “Sustainability and Climate Change” programme.
The successful candidate must be able to teach in English and will be expected to contribute to pedagogical innovation. The Chair’s research may also support the development of original teaching cases on climate reporting, the accounting implications of climate-related issues, and their consequences for companies.
Following successful tenure within six years, the annual teaching load will be equivalent to the standard load of a French faculty member, i.e. 192 ETD hours.
Research output and academic engagement
During the Chair period, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain a strong publication record in leading international journals and to present research at major international conferences. The Chair holder will also contribute to the research life of TSM Research, the development of externally funded research projects, and the organisation of academic workshops and events for decision-makers and practitioners.
Open science
The Chair holder will contribute to open science in line with the policies of Université Toulouse Capitole and ENGAGE.eu, including, where feasible, data sharing, research replicability and the deposit of publications in an open-access repository such as HAL.
Science and society
The dissemination of research findings beyond academia is a priority for TSM Research. The Chair holder will contribute to sharing the Chair’s results with companies, accounting professionals, statutory auditors, public decision-makers and the wider public, notably through conferences, outreach activities and contributions to the press.
Performance indicators and tenure
The Chair is appointed for a six-year period. Annual progress reviews and a mid-term review after 2.5 years will monitor the implementation of the project. The Junior Professor will submit an annual activity report covering research output, pedagogical innovation and research dissemination.
The evaluation will consider indicators in each of the following three areas:
Research performance indicators:
An excellent research record comparable to that of researchers obtaining tenure at leading international institutions or institutions of a similar standing, including:
Publications in leading journals (FNEGE-ranked 1 or 2 journals, or journals in the first quartile (Q1) of the relevant Journal Citation Reports (JCR) / Scopus categories), including at least one article published in an FNEGE rank 1 or FT50 journal.
External assessment of research quality by senior academics from outside Université Toulouse Capitole, including recommendation letters for tenure.
Presentations at international conferences, success in obtaining research funding, and research awards or distinctions.
Pedagogical innovation indicators:
Courses developed, teaching cases and other pedagogical materials, and student evaluations, with particular attention to innovations related to CSR/sustainability and contributions to the ENGAGE.eu programme.
Research dissemination indicators:
Evidence of contributions aligned with the open science strategy; articles and opinion pieces in national or international media drawing on research findings; and engagement and partnerships with socio-economic stakeholders, including the accounting and auditing professions, regulators and companies.
At the end of the six-year period, the Chair holder will be expected to meet the required level of achievement across these three dimensions and to satisfy the criteria defined by CNU Section 06 at Université Toulouse Capitole that would be required for eligibility to supervise research (HDR). A final assessment by a tenure committee will evaluate these dimensions and, if successful, enable appointment to a permanent Full Professor position (Professeur des universités).
Candidate profile
The position is intended for an internationally oriented researcher with a strong academic profile and the potential to develop a visible research agenda at the intersection of accounting and climate change. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate the ability to publish in high-quality international journals, engage with international research networks, develop funded research, teach in English, and contribute actively to the collective research environment of TSM Research.
Particular interest will be given to research addressing climate-related accounting and disclosure, sustainability or climate reporting, the financial and non-financial consequences of climate change, or closely related topics. Interdisciplinary approaches and collaborations with other areas of management and with law, economics, political science, climate science or environmental science are welcome.
What the Chair offers
The CP3C Chair combines a reduced teaching load during the six-year pre-tenure period with a €200,000 ANR research package, providing substantial support for the development of an ambitious international research programme. The Chair is embedded in TSM Research (UMR CNRS 5303) and offers opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, international academic engagement and interaction with professional and public-policy stakeholders. Successful completion of the tenure process leads to appointment as a permanent Full Professor (Professeur des universités).
Application package
The application package must include: a detailed academic CV; an activity report covering teaching, research and collective/academic service since enrolment in the PhD; a research proposal detailing the CPJ programme and the integration of associated staff; and at least two recommendation letters (or, at minimum, the contact details of referees) from individuals external to the host research unit.
Applications must be submitted through the Odyssée portal. Indicative timeline (subject to change): applications open in late September 2026; application deadline in late October 2026; interviews in November 2026; expected start date in September 2027.
Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to contact Isabelle Martinez, Head of the Accounting, Control and Auditing research group, before submitting their application to discuss the research project and, where appropriate, to arrange a presentation of their work to the host team as part of a TSM Research seminar.
