The EAA’s Financial Reporting Standards Committee, in cooperation with the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and EFRAG, will organize a workshop on 26th of June 2025, from 14:00 to 16:00, that aims to inform researchers about how digital reporting frameworks can enhance the scope and efficiency of academic research.
During the workshop, Florian Esterer, representative from the IASB and Richard Bössen, representative from EFRAG, will highlight the challenges and opportunities of digital and structured disclosures and inform workshop participants about its current adoption. Academic contributor Dimitris Kanelis will discuss how digital financial reporting can enhance academic research by expanding research scope and democratising access to financial data. Academic contributor Malte Max will share his research experience regarding accessing and using data reported under the ESEF (European Single Electronic Format) as well as data quality. The goal of the workshop is to raise awareness about digital reporting and provide starting points for specific questions on which academic research could potentially support authorities and standard setters in streamlining a useful digital reporting system. Argyro Panaretou will moderate the workshop.
