This EAA virtual event will discuss important developments in auditing and ethics standard setting in the public interest. The event will involve a discussion among a panel of international auditing and ethics standard setters and EAA academics to outline the roles and priorities of the Public Interest Oversight Board (PIOB), the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) and the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA). In addition to dealing with enduring issues in financial audit and assurance, standard setters in auditing and ethics are facing significant demands, complexity and challenges in developing robust standards for sustainability reporting and assurance. Panellists will discuss the current and future agendas of international auditing, ethics and public interest standard setters and the ways in which academic research and researchers can contribute to these agendas.
